These shifts include episodes of mania (abnormally elevated mood, increased energy, racing thoughts, impulsive behavior) and depression. Cyclothymic disorder is a milder form of bipolar disorder, characterized by numerous periods of hypomanic symptoms and periods of depressive symptoms that do not meet the full criteria for a manic or major depressive episode.

The exact causes of tunnonhäiriöt are not fully understood, but they are believed to result from a complex interplay of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors. Treatment typically involves a combination of psychotherapy (talk therapy) and medication, such as antidepressants or mood stabilizers. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are crucial for managing these conditions and improving quality of life.
