A transskript, or transcript, is a written record of spoken words. It is created by listening to an audio or video recording and typing out what is said. There are two main types of transcription: verbatim and non-verbatim. Verbatim transcription involves typing out every single word, including stutters, false starts, and filler words like "um" and "uh." Non-verbatim transcription, on the other hand, cleans up the spoken text, removing these extraneous elements and correcting grammatical errors to make it more readable.

Transcription can be done manually by a human transcriber or automatically using speech recognition software. Human transcription is generally more accurate, especially for poor-quality audio or complex subject matter, but it is also more time-consuming and expensive. Automated transcription is faster and cheaper but may require significant editing to achieve the desired accuracy.

The accuracy and format of a transskript can vary depending on its intended use. For legal purposes, a highly accurate verbatim transcript is often required. For other uses, such as creating subtitles or summarizing interviews, a non-verbatim transcript might be sufficient. The use of timestamps, speaker identification, and other annotations can further enhance the utility of a transskript.
