Tomoe is a stylized, comma-shaped swirl used in Japanese iconography. The most widely recognized form is mitsudomoe, a circle formed by three interlocking swirls. Less common variants include hitotsu-tomoe (one swirl) and futatsu-tomoe (two swirls).
