tlacíchlanguage

Tlacíchlanguage is a constructed language (conlang) developed as a project in linguistic experimentation and worldbuilding. Created by linguist Lora Kade in 2012, tlacíchlanguage aims for regular, transparent morphology and flexible syntax suitable for both study and storytelling. It is designed to be learnable for beginners while providing a range of expressive tools for advanced users, including a system of affixes that encode tense, aspect, mood, and evidentiality.

Phonology and writing: The language has a compact phonology with five vowel qualities (a e i o u) that may be lengthened in morphemes, and a consonant set common to many European languages, including multiple affricates. Vowel harmony integrates suffix vowels with the root vowels. The standard orthography uses the Latin script with diacritics to mark vowel length and stress. Compounds are written with a hyphen or as closed forms, depending on ambiguity.

Grammar: Tlacíchlanguage is primarily agglutinative, with a rich suffixal system marking case, number, and grammatical relations. The canonical word order is subject–object–verb (SOV), and postpositions replace prepositions. Nouns inflect for nominative, accusative, and dative, while verbs encode tense, aspect, modality, and evidentiality via suffix complexes. Adjectives generally follow nouns, and relative clauses attach to nouns via nominalized verb forms.

Usage and reception: A small community of speakers, hobbyists, and conlang researchers maintains dictionaries and grammars. Tlacíchlanguage is often used in worldbuilding projects and linguistic demonstrations of agglutinative morphology. A simple greeting in tlacíchlanguage is "Saló," meaning "Hello."
