Tilkjennelse is a legal term in Norwegian law that refers to a court’s ruling granting a party a remedy or entitlement. The verb tilkjenne means to award, and tilkjennelse denotes the part of a judgment that confers a right or obligation on the claimant. In civil procedure, tilkjennelse indicates that the court has recognized the claimant’s claim and ordered relief.

The most common forms of tilkjennelse are monetary damages (erstatning) and other enforceable remedies, such as delivery of goods or performance of a contractual obligation.
