The document or message is usually followed by an order confirmation from the supplier.

Tilauskutsuja are distinct from bids and tender documents. A tarjouspyyntö or tarjouskutsu is used to solicit competitive offers from suppliers, often in public procurement or competitive bidding processes. Tilauskutsu, by contrast, is typically part of the ordering stage for an already selected supplier or in a framework agreement, and it initiates order fulfillment rather than competitive bidding. The exact terminology and usage can vary by company and industry, but the general purpose remains the same: to formalize and coordinate the execution of a purchase.
