Testülete is a Hungarian term for a formal collective decision-making body within an organization, institution, or public authority. The word denotes a group of members who act together to make binding decisions, typically on governance, oversight, policy, or control matters. The exact composition, powers, and procedures of a testület are usually defined by law, the organization’s charter, or its internal rules.

In public administration, the most common example is the képviselő-testület, the municipal legislative body that determines local policy, passes ordinances, approves the budget, and oversees the local administration and mayor. Similar bodies exist in other levels of government or in certain public institutions, where the testület exercises delegated authority within defined limits.

In corporate and organizational contexts, testület can refer to bodies such as the felügyelő testület (supervisory board) and az igazgató testület (board of directors), which oversee management, set strategic directions, and ensure accountability to shareholders or members. Religious and educational institutions may also use testülete to describe governing assemblies or councils.

Procedural features commonly associated with testülete include defined membership terms, election or appointment of members, regular meetings, quorum requirements, voting rules, and the preparation of minutes and records. Testületes typically have greater decision-making authority than ordinary committees, with the power to adopt policies, approve budgets, and oversee administration, sometimes delegating specific tasks to subordinate bodies.
