Testauslaitos is a Finnish term describing a laboratory or facility that conducts testing and analysis to verify properties, performance, quality, or safety of products, materials, processes, or systems. Such laboratories perform mechanical, chemical, electrical, physical, environmental, microbiological, and software-related tests, depending on their specialization. They may also conduct certification testing, metrology, validation studies, and the generation of test reports and certificates used by manufacturers, regulators, and customers.

In Finland, testing laboratories can be public, private, university-affiliated, or part of a larger certification or metrology organization. They may provide services to industries such as construction, machinery, automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals, food, and energy. Laboratories often operate under formal quality and competency requirements, commonly ISO/IEC 17025, and are subject to accreditation by the Finnish Accreditation Service (FINAS) or equivalent bodies in other jurisdictions. Accreditation demonstrates competence to perform specified tests and to report results with traceable measurement uncertainty. Some labs participate in interlaboratory comparisons and proficiency tests to maintain accuracy.
