A Tech-Priest, also known as an Adept of the Machine God or an Enginseer, is a prominent figure within the fictional universe of Warhammer 40,000. They are members of the Adeptus Mechanicus, a vast organization that governs technological development and maintenance across the Imperium of Man. Tech-Priests are not merely engineers or scientists in the modern sense, but rather techno-religious figures who venerate technology as divine. They believe that all machinery is imbued with the spirit of the Omnissiah, the Machine God.

Their role encompasses a wide range of duties. They are responsible for the creation, repair, and operation of all Imperial technology, from the smallest servo-arm to the largest starship. This includes maintaining the planet-spanning factories, the immense war machines, and the vital life support systems that keep humanity alive in a hostile galaxy. Tech-Priests possess a deep and often arcane knowledge of ancient technologies, much of which is poorly understood even by themselves, and is passed down through generations of training and ritual.

Physically, Tech-Priests often undergo extensive cybernetic augmentation, replacing biological limbs and organs with mechanical equivalents. This is seen not as a limitation but as a form of devotion, bringing them closer to the divine machine. Their appearance can vary greatly, from those with minimal augmentation to individuals almost entirely composed of metal and circuitry. They are recognizable by their hooded robes, often adorned with religious iconography and technical tools. Their society is highly structured and hierarchical, with strict rules and traditions governing their practices and the dissemination of knowledge.
