Technoprogressivism is a political and ethical philosophy that endorses using science and technology to advance human well-being and social justice, while insisting on democratic legitimacy, civil liberties, and ethical governance. Proponents argue that responsible technological development—ranging from medicine and AI to energy and communications—can expand freedom and reduce inequality if guided by evidence, pluralistic ethics, and accountable institutions. Ideals and principles: core beliefs include open science, privacy protection, universal access to beneficial technologies, and a precautionary, yet innovation-friendly, stance. Technoprogressivists support responsible innovation: proactive risk assessment, regulation to prevent harm, and governance mechanisms that are transparent and participatory. They advocate policies to democratize the development and deployment of AI, biotech, neurotechnology, and other transformative fields, while opposing surveillance capitalism and unchecked concentrations of tech power.
