Tangit is a brand name associated with a family of solvent-based adhesives used to bond glass and compatible materials. The products are widely used by professional glaziers and hobbyists for glazing work, stained glass, and other crafts where a clear, strong seam is desired. Because Tangit lines are produced by different manufacturers in different regions, formulations and product names vary, but the underlying principle is solvent welding: a volatile solvent softens the glass surface and, as it evaporates, a solid, transparent bond forms between the bonded parts.

Typical Tangit products are applied to the edge or joint of one surface, then the parts are pressed together. Capillary action draws the adhesive into the seam; excess can be wiped away while still pliable. Curing can take from a few minutes to several hours depending on material, temperature, and humidity; the joint should be left undisturbed during this period for best strength. These products are intended for non-structural glazing and decorative uses; they are not substitutes for structural glass bonding or for use with tempered or laminated glass in load-bearing applications.

Safety considerations: Tangit adhesives contain organic solvents and are flammable. Use in a well-ventilated area, away from heat and ignition sources. Wear gloves to protect skin and avoid inhalation; follow the manufacturer’s instructions and local regulations. Store in a cool, sealed container out of reach of children.
