Tandbroar, also known as dental bridges, are prosthetic devices used to replace one or more missing teeth. They are permanently cemented to the natural teeth or dental implants adjacent to the gap, serving as anchors for artificial teeth. The artificial teeth, called pontics, are fused to the anchor crowns. This arrangement effectively bridges the gap created by the missing teeth.

The primary function of a dental bridge is to restore the ability to chew properly and improve speech. Beyond functional benefits, they also help maintain the shape of the face, prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of position, and enhance the overall appearance of the smile. The process of getting a dental bridge typically involves several dental appointments. First, the abutment teeth (the teeth on either side of the gap) are prepared by removing a portion of their enamel to make room for the crowns. Impressions of the prepared teeth and the surrounding area are then taken to create a custom-fitting bridge. A temporary bridge may be placed while the permanent one is being fabricated in a dental laboratory. At a subsequent visit, the temporary bridge is removed, and the permanent bridge is checked for fit and comfort before being cemented into place. Regular dental hygiene practices, including thorough brushing and flossing around the bridge, are essential for its longevity.
