A tallit, plural tallitot, is a Jewish prayer shawl worn during morning prayers by many Jews. It is a rectangular garment, typically made of wool or cotton, and designed to be worn over the shoulders. The defining feature is the tzitzit, or fringes, attached to the four corners in obedience to the biblical commandment in Numbers 15:38-39 and Deuteronomy 22:12.
