Tagoltsága is the state or quality of being segmented into parts. The term comes from tagolni, to divide into sections, with tagoltság meaning segmentation or structure. In Hungarian usage, tagoltsága is discussed mainly in the contexts of text analysis, rhetoric, and communication, where it refers to how a text or spoken discourse is divided into meaningful units such as chapters, sections, paragraphs, verses, or prosodic units.

In practical terms, a text or speech with clear tagoltság has distinguishable units that guide the reader or listener: headings, subheadings, paragraph breaks, and transitions. This enhances navigability, coherence, and emphasis. Conversely, a text with low tagoltság lacks obvious division, which can hinder scannability and comprehension. Tagoltsága is typically assessed qualitatively, though writers may aim for an appropriate balance depending on genre and audience. In oral communication, tagoltsága also refers to prosodic grouping, pause points, and intonation that segment speech into units. In typography and design, it describes how layout and visual cues create visible structure.
