Szíverregenerációs, often translated as "heart regeneration," refers to the biological processes by which the heart, specifically cardiac muscle tissue (myocardium), can repair itself after injury. Unlike many other tissues in the body, the adult mammalian heart has a very limited capacity for regeneration. Following a heart attack or other damage, the injured area is typically replaced by scar tissue, which is less functional than healthy heart muscle. This scarring can lead to impaired pumping ability and contribute to heart failure.

However, research has shown that certain organisms, like zebrafish, possess a remarkable ability to regenerate their hearts. Scientists are actively investigating the mechanisms behind this regenerative capacity in simpler organisms with the hope of translating these findings to human medicine.
