Szemészet is the Hungarian word for ophthalmology, the branch of medicine concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who specializes in eye and vision care. They are trained to perform eye exams, diagnose and treat eye diseases, prescribe medications, and perform eye surgery.
