Suunisandmiku is a small inlet situated along the southwestern coast of Estonia, within the municipality of Pärnu. It is part of the Baltic Sea coastline and lies approximately ten kilometres north of the town of Pärnu. The name derives from Estonian words meaning “north” (suuri) and “sand” (sand) and refers to the sandy shoreline that characterises the area. The inlet is preceded by a narrow sandbar that extends into the sea, creating a shallow basin that is popular for swimming and sunbathing during the summer months.

The region surrounding Suunisandmiku has long been used for recreational purposes. Local authorities maintain a small beach access point, and during the high tourist season a flat trail leads visitors from the main road to the sandy shore. Facilities are limited, but temporary seating and shelters are erected for beachgoers. Because the inlet waters are shallow and warm in late summer, it has become a favourite spot for families and water sports enthusiasts. Shellfish, such as mussels and clams, can be harvested along the littoral zone, although fishing in the inlet is regulated by a standard Estonian marine catch licence.

Ecologically, Suunisandmiku is part of a coastal wetland system that serves as habitat for several migratory bird species. Simple protective measures, such as the designation of an all‑year nature reserve in 2004, help safeguard vegetation and curb excessive sand erosion. Access for vehicles is restricted to a narrow stretch of road, and a bicycle path provides an alternative way of reaching the inlet. Local authorities monitor water quality, ensuring compliance with the European Marine Strategy Framework Directive for the Baltic Sea.
