Surexploitation is a neologism used in critical theory and political economy to describe a mode of exploitation that is institutionally guaranteed or structurally embedded, yielding persistent surplus extraction over time. The term suggests that exploitation is not occasional or exceptional but built into the operating logic of institutions, contracts, and technologies.

The word is formed from a combination of 'sure' and 'exploitation,' signaling the idea that extractive relations are made predictable and inexorable through legal, financial, and technical arrangements. In discussions, surexploitation can apply to labor, resources, and data, where workers face long-term subcontracting, wage suppression, surveillance, and coercive performance regimes; where producers rely on price discipline and debt financing that lock them into supplier roles; and where data and digital platforms enable continuous value extraction from users.

Contexts often cited include global supply chains with multilayer subcontracting, gig and platform economies using rating systems and algorithmic management, and extractive or colonial-era relations that persist through debt and conditionality.

Critics argue that the concept risks vagueness if not anchored to concrete mechanisms, and that it may obscure differences between legitimate efficiency gains and genuine predatory practices. Proponents contend that it helps reveal how institutional design can normalize exploitation rather than relying on overt coercion.
