Sulkeilee is a Finnish verb form related to sulkea, meaning to close or shut. It conveys an ongoing, repetitive, or intermittent closing action and is most often encountered in descriptive prose, dialogue, or literary narration rather than in everyday speech. In standard Finnish, the present-tense forms sulkee or sulkeutuu are more common; sulkeilee tends to appear as a stylistic or regional variant that emphasizes duration or continuity of the closure process.

The form can describe physical actions, such as doors, lids, or shutters that close gradually or with interruptions. It can also be used metaphorically to describe processes or systems that close off possibilities in a gradual, persistent way. Its nuance is closer to “is closing in a continuing way” rather than a single instantaneous closing.
