Building codes in storm-prone regions often specify requirements for wind resistance and debris protection.

In consumer products, stormproofing covers waterproof or windproof apparel, protective cases, and tents, as well as buildings and doors marketed as stormproof. Clothing uses weatherproof fabrics with sealed seams; housing products may feature reinforced frames, multi-point locking doors, and corrosion-resistant components.

Standards and testing: Some jurisdictions rely on standards such as wind-load ratings and impact-resistance tests; products can bear certifications from recognized bodies, though not all markets require certification.
