Stimulaatioon is a term that appears in some Finnish-language texts to denote the process of providing stimuli to elicit responses from biological, cognitive, or artificial systems. In English-language usage, the corresponding concept is typically called stimulation. The noun refers to the act or process of applying stimuli, which can be sensory, electrical, chemical, or informational.

Biological and cognitive systems respond to stimuli through receptors and sensory pathways. Stimuli can modulate neural activity, alter neurotransmitter release, or trigger plastic changes in neural networks. The nature of the stimulus, its intensity, duration, and timing determine the response, including adaptation or sensitization.
