Stereolitográfia, often abbreviated as SLA, is an additive manufacturing process used to create three-dimensional objects from a digital model. It is one of the earliest forms of 3D printing and falls under the category of vat photopolymerization. The process involves selectively curing a liquid photopolymer resin layer by layer using an ultraviolet (UV) laser.

In stereolithography, a build platform is submerged in a vat of liquid photopolymer. A UV laser beam then traces the cross-section of the object on the surface of the resin, causing it to solidify. Once a layer is complete, the build platform moves slightly, either up or down depending on the specific SLA machine, and a new layer of resin is exposed. The laser then cures the next cross-section, fusing it to the previous layer. This process is repeated until the entire object is built.

After printing, the object is typically removed from the build platform and undergoes a post-curing process, often involving additional UV light exposure, to ensure full solidification and optimize material properties. The uncured resin is then drained and can often be reused. SLA is known for its ability to produce highly detailed and smooth-surfaced parts, making it suitable for applications such as prototyping, dental models, jewelry casting patterns, and intricate visual aids. The materials used are typically photopolymer resins with varying properties, allowing for a range of mechanical characteristics in the final printed objects.
