Stemplaten are plates or templates carrying a defined imprint used in stamping operations to transfer a design onto a workpiece by pressing a shaped impression into the surface. They are used across industries to reproduce marks, patterns or text with high repeatability and accuracy.

In industrial stamping, stemplaten form part of a stamping die set, together with punches and dies, and are mounted in presses or embossing machines. The plate carries the impression and can be made with single-use impressions or replaceable inserts to extend life. The accuracy of the imprint depends on plate flatness, alignment features, and the fit with the mating punch or die.

Materials and construction typically involve tool steels or carbide-based alloys, heat-treated for hardness. Surfaces are finished to tight tolerances, and many stemplaten include dowel holes or locating pins to ensure repeatable registration. Some designs use replaceable inserts or modular components to accommodate different patterns without replacing the entire plate.

Applications range from metalworking for marking or shaping components to plastics, leather, and paper products for embossing, debossing, or applying logos and serial numbers. Stemplaten enable consistent reproduction of complex motifs and text across large production runs.

Design considerations include tolerances, relief geometry, wear resistance, and compatibility with feeding systems and presses. Maintenance involves regular cleaning, inspection for cracks or chipping, re-surfacing when needed, and timely replacement of worn inserts to maintain imprint quality.
