Standardiviranomaiset are official Finnish authorities tasked with the development, harmonisation and oversight of technical standards across various sectors. The term is often used in regulatory and industrial contexts to denote bodies that create or endorse standards that support quality, safety, environmental protection and interoperability of products and services. Within Finland, the primary standardising body is the Finnish Standardisation Association, commonly known as Standardi. Standardi operates under the Finnish Standard Institution (Finland Standards, FPLC) and is responsible for drafting new national standards (Finnish Standards) and adopting European and international standards (such as those published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) or the European Committee for Standardization (CEN)) where they are applicable in Finnish law.
