In corpora and NLP pipelines, sprogmarkering enables language-aware processing, machine translation, cross-lingual search, and proper rendering in user interfaces.

Challenges include short or noisy text, code-switching, brand or place names that differ in language, script variation, and domain-specific vocabulary that confuses models. Accuracy depends on data quality and context.

Examples: in HTML, the lang attribute specifies the document language; subtitles tracks include a language code; in corpora, sentences are labeled with language tags.
