They offer advantages such as low energy consumption, high surface area for heat or mass transfer, and the ability to produce droplets in the sub-millimeter range, which can enhance reaction rates or distribution uniformity. Proper maintenance, including cleaning and monitoring of pressure drops, is essential to prevent blockage, fouling, and to extend operational life.
