Sortniveau is a term used in logistics, manufacturing, and information management to denote the level at which items or records are sorted within a system. The word blends German sortieren (to sort) and French niveau (level), and appears in multilingual industry literature to describe the granularity of a sorting process.

In logistics and warehousing, sortniveau refers to the stage in the sortation workflow where items are routed toward their eventual destinations. A lower niveau groups items into broad categories (for example by region), while a higher niveau applies finer differentiation (for example by city, street, and carrier). The choice of niveau affects equipment configuration, such as the number of sorters, the routing logic, and the need for buffers between stages.
