For non-infectious causes, treatment focuses on managing the chronic condition, which might involve anti-inflammatory drugs, immunosuppressants, or dietary changes. Supportive care, such as rehydration with oral rehydration solutions or intravenous fluids, is crucial for managing fluid and electrolyte imbalances. Rest and a bland diet are often recommended to allow the intestines to recover. The prognosis depends largely on the cause and promptness of treatment.
