Sokettia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Rubiaceae, native to the tropical regions of Africa. The genus was first described by the botanist John Gilbert Baker in 1876. Sokettia species are characterized by their simple, entire leaves and showy, tubular flowers that are typically white or cream-colored with a purple or red throat. The flowers are often fragrant and are produced in dense, terminal racemes.

The genus is named in honor of the French botanist Jean-Baptiste Sokett, who was a contemporary of Baker and also worked on the flora of Africa. Sokettia species are often cultivated as ornamental plants due to their attractive flowers and are commonly found in gardens and nurseries. They are also used in traditional medicine in some African cultures for their various medicinal properties.

There are currently 12 recognized species of Sokettia, including Sokettia africana, Sokettia bracteata, and Sokettia grandiflora. The genus is monotypic, meaning that all of its species are placed within a single genus. Sokettia species are typically found in moist, shady habitats such as forests and swamps, where they can thrive in the warm, humid conditions.

Sokettia plants are relatively easy to care for and can be grown from seed or cuttings. They prefer well-draining soil and should be watered regularly, but not allowed to become waterlogged.
