Sokeriruokoa is the Finnish term for sugarcane, referring to several species within the genus Saccharum, most notably Saccharum officinarum, cultivated for the production of sucrose-rich juice. It is a tall perennial grass that can reach several meters in height and is adapted to warm, frost-free tropical and subtropical climates.

Growth and cultivation are linked to warm temperatures, abundant rainfall or irrigation, and long growing seasons. Sugarcane is typically propagated from cuttings and can be grown in large fields with careful management of water, soil fertility, and pests.
