Skulderbladsläget, also known as shoulder blade positioning or scapular position, refers to the resting or habitual posture of the shoulder blades on the thorax. It is a crucial component of overall shoulder girdle function and plays a significant role in the biomechanics of the arm and upper body. In an optimal skulderbladsläge, the shoulder blades lie flat against the rib cage, with the vertebral borders roughly parallel to the spine and positioned at approximately the T2 to T7 vertebral levels. The lower angles should be tucked slightly inwards and downwards.

Deviations from this ideal position can manifest in various ways, commonly including scapular winging, where one or both shoulder blades protrude from the back, or excessive protraction or retraction. These postural variations can result from muscle imbalances, such as weakness in the serratus anterior or rhomboids, or tightness in the pectoral muscles.
