A scalp biopsy is a medical procedure where a small sample of skin is taken from the scalp for examination under a microscope. This diagnostic tool is used to help identify the cause of various scalp conditions, such as hair loss, inflammation, or unusual growths.

Scalp biopsies can help diagnose conditions like alopecia areata, scarring alopecias, fungal infections, autoimmune diseases, or skin cancers affecting the scalp.
