A sintonizador, also known as a tuner, is an electronic device or circuit that selects and amplifies a desired radio frequency signal from a complex mix of radio waves. It is a fundamental component in radio receivers and other communication systems. The primary function of a sintonizador is to isolate a specific frequency band, allowing only the signals within that band to pass through while rejecting all others.

The process typically involves a resonant circuit, often consisting of an inductor and a capacitor, whose resonant frequency can be adjusted. By changing the values of the inductor or capacitor, the resonant frequency shifts, allowing the user or an automatic system to tune into different broadcast stations or communication channels. Once the desired frequency is selected, the sintonizador amplifies the weak incoming signal to a level that can be further processed by subsequent stages of the receiver, such as the demodulator and audio amplifier.
