Sintonizadores, also known as tuners, are electronic devices or circuits used to select a specific frequency from a range of radio frequencies. This is a fundamental process in radio communication, allowing receivers to isolate a desired broadcast signal from all the other electromagnetic waves present in the environment. A common application is in radios, where a user manipulates a dial or presses buttons to tune into a particular radio station.

The core function of a sintonizador is to filter out unwanted signals while amplifying the chosen one. This is typically achieved using a combination of resonant circuits, often involving inductors and capacitors. By adjusting the values within these circuits, the resonant frequency can be shifted, thereby selecting a different broadcast frequency. Modern sintonizadores often employ digital signal processing (DSP) for more precise and stable tuning, as well as for features like automatic scanning and memory presets for favorite stations. Beyond traditional radio, sintonizadores are also found in television sets, satellite receivers, and various wireless communication systems.
