Sidetall is a term used mainly in Norwegian and other Scandinavian languages to denote the number of a page within a document. The word combines sid ('side') and tall ('number'), and is typically translated into English as "page number." In English-language publishing the more common term is "page number," but sidetall appears in manuals, typography guidance, and in multilingual editions to describe the same concept.

In print and digital media, sidetall serves navigation, indexing, and citation. In books and journals, it is usually placed in the header or footer of a page, and typography guidelines recommend a size and contrast that ensure legibility without dominating the page. In PDFs and e-readers, page indicators mirror sidetall to facilitate cross-referencing between physical and digital formats.
