Servosysteem is a Dutch term that translates to "servo system" in English. It refers to a feedback control mechanism that is widely used in robotics, automation, and various mechanical applications. The core principle of a servosysteem is to accurately control the position, velocity, or torque of a system component.

A typical servosysteem consists of several key components. A motor, often an electric motor, provides the motive force. A sensor, such as an encoder or potentiometer, measures the actual position or speed of the motor shaft. A controller, which can be a microcontroller or a dedicated servo drive, receives the desired setpoint and the feedback signal from the sensor. It then calculates the necessary adjustments to be made to the motor's output to minimize the error between the desired and actual values.

The operation involves a continuous loop. The controller compares the target value with the measured value from the sensor. If there is a difference, the controller sends a command to the motor to move in a specific direction and speed until the measured value matches the target value. This closed-loop system allows for precise and repeatable movements.

They are found in applications ranging from steering systems in vehicles and flight control surfaces in aircraft to industrial robots and the precise movement of camera lenses.
