sensorsaddress is a generalized identifier used to locate a specific sensor within a data acquisition system or sensor network. It can denote a hardware address on a communication bus, a network address or topic, or a software key that associates readings with a particular device.

Hardware addressing: In embedded hardware, sensorsaddress is often realized as a bus address. For example, on an I2C bus each device has a 7- or 10-bit address, which must be unique on that bus. Modbus devices use a slave address, typically 1–247, to identify sensors on a Modbus network. Other bus systems, such as CAN or 1-Wire, rely on device identifiers or ROM codes as addresses.

Networking and software addressing: In IoT and software, sensorsaddress can be a topic or endpoint, such as an MQTT topic like sensors/room1/temperature, or an identifier used in a REST API URL. In data models, it may be a field named sensorsaddress in a sensorReading object.

Address management: Systems may use static addressing, where the address is configured and fixed, or dynamic addressing, where a discovery protocol assigns addresses at runtime.
