Sensoritega is a term used to describe a hypothetical architectural framework for interoperable sensor networks. It envisions an approach in which heterogeneous sensors, devices, and software can exchange data through common models and interfaces, enabling scalable sensing across environments such as urban areas, agricultural fields, and industrial facilities.

Central to sensoritega is a layered architecture: a device layer consisting of sensors and actuators; an edge or gateway layer that provides local processing, protocol translation, and data buffering; and a data coordination layer that manages metadata, discovery, access control, and data sharing through open APIs. It relies on open data models and ontologies to describe sensor capabilities, measurements, units, and provenance, and on standardized communication protocols to enable interoperability across vendors.

Security and privacy are emphasized through identity management, encryption, role-based access control, and consent-based data sharing, with considerations for data ownership and governance.

Applications span smart cities, environmental monitoring, precision agriculture, and industrial IoT, where scalable, interoperable sensing can reduce integration costs and accelerate analytics.

Although described in academic and industry discussions since the early 2020s, sensoritega remains a proposed concept rather than a standardized framework. Pilot projects and prototypes have explored its ideas, highlighting benefits as well as challenges in governance, data quality, and cross-domain compatibility.

Future work focuses on formalizing reference models, establishing certification programs, and addressing scalability, security, and privacy in real-world deployments.
