Saliencesuchus is an extinct genus of large-bodied, long-necked sauropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic period, approximately 155 to 150 million years ago. Fossils of this dinosaur have been discovered in the Morrison Formation of western North America, particularly in Wyoming and Colorado. The name *Saliencesuchus* combines the Latin word *salio*, meaning "to leap," and *sauros*, meaning "lizard," along with the Greek suffix *-echus*, which refers to a monster or dragon-like creature, reflecting its imposing size and appearance.
Saliencesuchus is known from a single, nearly complete skeleton, including a well-preserved skull and postcranial elements.
The discovery of Saliencesuchus provides valuable insights into the diversity and evolution of sauropod dinosaurs during
