Sähkösinkitys, also known as electrogalvanizing or zinc plating, is a common electrochemical process used to coat a metal object, typically steel, with a thin layer of zinc. This process provides a sacrificial barrier against corrosion. When exposed to the environment, the zinc layer corrodes preferentially, protecting the underlying steel from rust.

The process involves immersing the workpiece into an electrolytic solution containing zinc ions.
