Részfuvarozás, also known as partial load transport or LTL (Less Than Truckload) shipping in English, refers to a type of freight service where a single truck carries goods from multiple shippers. Instead of a full truckload (FTL) where one consignor occupies the entire vehicle, LTL consolidates smaller shipments from various sources onto one truck. This allows businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to transport goods without incurring the cost of a full truck, making it a more economical option for smaller volumes.

The process typically involves a logistics provider collecting shipments from different locations and bringing them to a central hub or terminal. There, the goods are sorted and consolidated onto trucks destined for various regions or specific delivery points. When the truck reaches its destination or a regional hub, the process is reversed, with shipments being unloaded and delivered to their final recipients.

Részfuvarozás offers several advantages, including cost savings, reduced environmental impact due to optimized truck utilization, and greater flexibility for businesses with fluctuating shipping needs. However, it also presents challenges. The transit time can be longer compared to FTL because shipments need to be consolidated, deconsolidated, and potentially transferred between trucks. There is also a higher risk of damage or loss due to more handling points during the consolidation and sorting process. Careful packaging and appropriate insurance are therefore essential for shipments utilizing this method.
