rivinúmeroa

Rivinúmeroa is a diminutive island located in the San Cristóbal Island archipelago, which is part of the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. It is situated off the northwest coast of San Cristóbal Island, in the route between San Cristóbal and Santa Cruz islands. The name "Rivinúmeroa" is derived from the Galapagueño and Spanish languages.

The island is the Product of volcanic activity that shaped the Galapagos Islands. Geologically, Rivinúmeroa is a small shield volcano that formed through effusive eruptions. Its small size is due to its relatively minor volcanic activity compared to nearby islands.

From a biological perspective, Rivinúmeroa is sparse in terms of land flora, with a Mediterranean-like vegetation consisting mainly of small tree species, along with dune grasses and other alien and endemic plant species. The presence of endemic Embrioanian turtles has also been known to inhabit the area.

As part of the Galapagos Islands Biological Reserve, implemented in 1959 by President José María Velasco Ibarra, Rivinúmeroa does not allow land travel for human settlements and human expansion in whirl. Thus, safe wildlife infringements are intact and sustain the typical isolated system ecology characteristic of unpopulated shoreline islets like this one.
