Riskutbildning, or risk education, is a mandatory program for learner drivers in Sweden designed to raise awareness of traffic risks and reduce accidents. The program is delivered in two parts, riskutbildning del 1 and riskutbildning del 2, and must be completed as part of the licensing process for motor vehicle drivers.

Riskutbildning del 1 is a theoretical course focused on risk awareness, factors that increase risk such as alcohol, drugs, fatigue, and distraction, and how risk interacts with different road conditions. It is delivered by approved driving instructors or driving schools and typically spans several hours. Completion is a prerequisite before moving forward in the licensing process.

Riskutbildning del 2 is a practical on-road training conducted in traffic, usually in a dual-control vehicle with an instructor. It emphasizes recognition and management of risk in real driving, including hazard perception, interaction with other road users, and responses to changing conditions. The course aims to translate theoretical knowledge into prudent on-road decisions and safer driving behavior.

Regulation and administration: The courses are regulated by the Swedish Transport Agency and are mandatory for new license applicants. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate that is used in the licensing process. Providers are licensed driving schools, and the program can be integrated with the overall driver education pathway.
