reescribí

In some dialects of Rioplatense Spanish, reescribí also functions as the affirmative imperative for vos, giving a direct command to rewrite. The same spelling can thus appear in different grammatical contexts depending on regional usage.

Etymology and meaning: reescribir is built from the prefix re- (again, anew) plus escribir (to write). The resulting verb carries the sense of producing a revised version of a text, revising content, or correcting and clarifying material.

Usage and conjugation: Reescribir is a regular -ir verb with standard Spanish conjugation patterns. In the indicative preterite, forms include yo reescribí, tú reescribiste, él/ella/usted reescribió, nosotros reescribimos, vosotros/as reescribisteis, ellos/as/ustedes reescribieron. The participle is reescrito and the present perfect uses haber + reescrito (he reescrito, has reescrito, etc.). For the imperative in regions that use vos, reescribí is used as an affirmative command. The standard tú imperative is reescribe; the formal command is reescriba.
