Recasting is the act of replacing a person or component that has been initially cast in a project or form. In the entertainment industry, recasting refers to substituting one actor for another in a role during development or production and may occur before filming or after shooting has begun. Reasons include scheduling conflicts, health issues, personal matters, or creative differences. In some cases, a role is recast to better align with a director’s vision or to refresh audience interest. The process typically involves public announcements, negotiations, and sometimes reshoots or re-recordings to accommodate the new performer. Recasting can affect character continuity, production timelines, and audience reception, and it is generally handled with sensitivity toward fans and existing plans.

In metalworking, recasting means melting an existing metal item or scrap and reforming it into a new product, often after repair or reuse. The process starts with melting the metal in a furnace, followed by purification and alloy adjustment as needed, then pouring the molten metal into a mold using methods such as sand casting, investment casting, or die casting. After cooling, the cast is cleaned and finished to achieve the desired dimensions and surface quality.
