Raketspruta are found in various marine environments, including coral reefs, rocky shores, and sandy bottoms, often at depths ranging from the intertidal zone to several hundred meters.

These snails are known for their unique defense mechanism. When threatened, they can expel a cloud of ink, similar to squid, to confuse predators. Additionally, they can retract their bodies into their shells and release a stream of water, which can be forceful enough to deter potential attackers. This behavior is a result of their evolutionary adaptation to avoid predation.

Raketspruta are herbivorous, feeding on algae and other plant material. They use their radula, a ribbon-like structure lined with tiny teeth, to scrape algae from surfaces. This feeding behavior contributes to their role in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems by controlling algal growth.

The taxonomy of raketspruta is complex, with numerous species described within the family Eulimidae. Some of the most well-known species include Eulima hamata, Eulima fragum, and Eulima fragum. These snails play an important role in marine food webs, serving as a food source for various predators, including fish and other invertebrates.
