The concept of punktides was first introduced in the late 20th century by physicist and mathematician John Archibald Wheeler as part of his exploration of quantum gravity and the early universe. Unlike traditional particles, which have spatial extent, punktides are theorized to be point-like objects with no intrinsic size, potentially existing as fundamental constituents of spacetime itself.
