Pullsüsteeme, also known as pulley systems, are mechanical devices that use one or more grooved wheels, called pulleys, to change the direction of a force or to gain a mechanical advantage. The basic principle behind a pulley system is that it distributes the load over multiple rope segments. Compound pulley systems combine both fixed and movable pulleys to achieve significant force multiplication. The amount of mechanical advantage in a pulley system is theoretically equal to the number of rope segments supporting the movable pulleys. In practice, friction within the pulleys and the weight of the rope can reduce the actual mechanical advantage.
