pseudomembranózní
Pseudomembranózní refers to the presence of pseudomembranes. A pseudomembrane is a false membrane that forms on the surface of a tissue or organ, typically in response to inflammation or infection. It is not a true membrane but rather a deposit of inflammatory exudate, consisting of dead cells, fibrin, mucus, and sometimes bacteria. Pseudomembranes can be found in various parts of the body, with the most common association being with Clostridioides difficile infection of the colon, leading to pseudomembranous colitis. In this condition, the lining of the colon becomes inflamed, and pseudomembranes form on the surface of the damaged mucosa. These membranes can vary in size and appearance and are a characteristic feature of the infection. Pseudomembranes can also occur in other conditions, such as diphtheria of the pharynx, where a thick, gray pseudomembrane forms on the tonsils and throat, potentially obstructing the airway. The formation of pseudomembranes signifies a significant inflammatory or infectious process and often requires medical intervention to address the underlying cause and remove the membranes.
