proximityare
Proximityare is a term used in spatial analysis to refer to the region that lies within a specified distance from a given feature or set. The proximity area, or proximityare, is formally the r-neighborhood of a set S in a metric space, consisting of all points whose distance to S is at most r. For a single point, this is a disk of radius r; for a curve, it is the rounded offset; for a polygon, it is the original shape expanded by r in all directions.
Mathematically, in Euclidean space, the proximity area of a convex body with area A and perimeter P
Applications of proximityare are varied. In geographic information systems, it is used to model buffer zones
Limitations include dependence on the chosen metric, the presence of barriers that block expansion, and scale
